Yuan Dadu, also known as Khanbaliq, was the capital city of the Yuan Dynasty (1271-1368) established by Kublai Khan. The city was built in 1267 and served as the political, economic, and cultural center of the Yuan Dynasty.
The Yuan Dadu City Wall Relics cover an area of 50 square kilometers, consisting of several sections of the outer city wall of Yuan Dadu running east-west. The walls were entirely constructed of rammed earth, with a total length of 4.2 kilometers, a base width of 24 meters, a top width of approximately 8 meters, and a height of approximately 16 meters.
Today, the ruins of Yuan Dadu include the remains of the city walls, moats, and some historical sites. The most famous landmark is the Yuan Dadu City Wall Relics Park, which preserves a section of the ancient city wall.
